A spring clean in our household means clearing out of furniture and decor we’re getting a bit tired of too. Actually, this isn’t necessarily just in spring, Steve is forever moving things around, upcycling, dismantling, rebuilding…the list goes on!
Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are our immediate go to places for passing on our bits and bobs to make space for some more.
It’s amazing the difference even the smallest of features can make to a room. A new rug, a small table, a backflow burner, a lit candle, a new plant (featured on one of our plant stands of course), creating that welcoming environment. We’re quite partial to popping a record on too to add to the atmosphere.
Room scents make for a warm welcome to any room. Unfortunately my baking skills are appalling so you’d never be welcomed to our home with the aroma of delicious muffins or freshly baked bread, what you will be greeted with is a scent to match the season.

My personal preferences are Japanese Magnolia for spring, Sea Breeze or Baby Powder for summer, Lemon or Cut Grass for autumn and Cinnamon and Orange or Red Berries for winter. Don’t get me wrong, these are most certainly not set in stone, and often I’ll just grab the nearest scent to hand, and although these scents are in the form of oils, wax melts and simmering granules, there’s a lot of incense burning in between.
Saying all this, whatever scent you may go for, whatever features you have in your home or studio, make it a warm, comforting environment and embrace the importance of wellbeing and relaxation.
Happy spring!
Nicky & Steve
